This :30 PSA, produced for the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources and Minnesota Department of Agriculture, warns of the destructive power of the invasive Emerald Ash Borer. It also calls on outdoorspeople to "burn firewood where you buy it," as transporting infested firewood is the beetle's fastest method of spreading.
I wrote and directed the spot, collaborating with an MDA Outreach Coordinator as subject matter expert. I was also lead modeler, look developer, and animator. I documented the production in an in-depth, behind-the-scenes process book (PDF). This innovative outreach venture was widely praised as "changing the culture of communication" at the DNR and MDA. In addition to a lengthy regional broadcast run, The National Conservancy and several states used a non-state-specific version to help fight the EAB battle nationwide.
