Geothermal Energy: Enhancing Our Future

The product of my Master of Fine Art thesis at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design, this 14-minute animation illustrates an innovative renewable energy research project conducted primarily at the University of Minnesota. Working closely with Jeffrey Bielicki, Assistant Professor of Energy Policy at The Ohio State University, this animation (a year in the making) is one of the focal points of the sustainable energy outreach effort at energypathways.org.

The foundation of my design philosophy for this project stems from cognitive and instructional research on how people are best able to learn from animation. The application of this research forms the basis of my MFA thesis paper "Sci-Candy: Animation-Based Learning and the Next Wave of Science Eduction," a PDF of which can be viewed here.
